Michael is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. He has studied China and East Asia at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) and counterterrorism and U.S. strategy in the Middle East and North Africa at the Middle East Forum (MEF). He has also has authored analysis of U.S. defense issues and liberal bias in mainstream media as an editorial intern at the National Journalism Center (NJC), and he interned in the Office of Legislative Affairs at the White House. In 2019, he was the Middle East policy intern at the Heritage Foundation. At Cornell, he is the president of the Cornell Political Union and president emeritus of the Cornell University College Republicans. He writes a regular opinion column in the Cornell Daily Sun.
