Leighton serves as co-chair for MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán) and the Latinx Ivy League Conference, to be held at Cornell in the Spring of 2016. He is also the Vice-President of Community Relations for LAL (La Asociación Latina), a student representative on the College of Arts & Sciences Curriculum Committee, a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, and a Cornell Tradition Fellow. In the past, he has worked as a research assistant in the Government and History deparments, volunteered at Auburn Correctional Facility as a Teaching Assistant through the Cornell Prison Education Program, and has held several jobs across campus. In his free time, he enjoys running, learning French, and practicing violin.
